BRIEF ABOUT THE HOD

Dr. Abdulhameed Bala Abubakar graduated with MBBS from ABU Zaria in 1980, and trained in Internal Medicine under West African College of Physicians and Endocrinology at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, University of London (Now Imperial College London). He obtained the fellowship (FWACP) in 1991. He is a recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award in 2001.

SERVICES RENDERED IN THE DEPARTMENT

In addition to service delivery to patients requiring specialist care, the department is involved in:

• Training of newly graduated Medical Officers as Interns, and postgraduates Resident Doctors for the purpose of producing specialists and consultants in all the Specialties of Medicine.


• Specialty based clinics are conducted each day of the week, and procedures such as endoscopy and dialysis are performed on designated days.


• Research activities are also conducted to address emerging and topical issues in Medicine to help patient management, general planning and public enlightenment.

TIME TABLE FOR CLINIC DAYS

• Mondays – Respiratory Medicine.


• Tuesdays – Gastroenterology Clinic.


• Wednesdays – Cardiology and Dermatology Clinic.


• Thursdays – Endocrinology and Endoscopy Clinics .


• Fridays – Psychiatry, Neurology, and Endoscopy Clinics .


• Daily - Dialysis

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Research activities are ongoing in Cardiology, Neurology, Pulmunology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Dermatology.
